The origin
🙋♂️ The Founder: Philippe Mangeard
Philippe Mangeard embodies the spirit of innovation and sustainability in business. He devotes his professional life to promoting innovative solutions aimed at reconciling economic growth with the protection of the planet.
An entrepreneur at heart, he started out in the business world as an agricultural engineer. However, he wasn't content to limit himself to technical fields; he quickly realized that the future of business is linked to its environmental impact. This conviction led him to play a pioneering role in the development of sustainable solutions.
One of its most emblematic achievements is the creation of TK'Blue Agency, a rating and labeling agency for freight transport. Thanks to its leadership, TK'Blue Agency has become a global benchmark in the calculation of GHGs and negative externalities, helping many companies to quantify and reduce their environmental impact.
Philippe Mangeard's commitment is not limited to the transport sector. By creating Global Climate Initiatives, he is helping to shape more effective environmental policies and encourage companies to adopt more responsible practices.
Philippe Mangeard is renowned for his entrepreneurial spirit. He has constantly sought out new opportunities to implement innovative ideas. His positive influence on the business sector and on environmental protection remains an inspiring example for present and future generations.
🖥️ The Influence of TK'Blue Agency
Global Climate Initiatives is the climate unit of TK'Blue, a freight transport labelling and rating agency created in 2012 to enable principals and transporters to fully assume their new obligations with regard to the numerous national and European legislative and regulatory requirements: CO2 reporting under the Grenelle II Law and CSR, monitoring of service providers' social and fiscal authorizations.
A 100% SaaS collaborative platform now internationally recognized, it enables all players (shippers, carriers, forwarders) to collaborate with the aim of achieving transparency in the calculation of carbon emissions in compliance with regulations and recognized standards, and reducing non-quality.
The agency's aim is to create a virtuous circle by encouraging clients to use more eco-efficient, and therefore environmentally-friendly, transport solutions. And in so doing, promote the use of environmentally-friendly modes of transport, and reduce their environmental and social impact.
Its European governance, comprising over seventy representatives, personalities and experts from all sectors, ensures its legitimacy, credibility, evolution, adaptation and independence over the long term.
TK'Blue, aware of the growing market demand in light of the climate emergency finally being perceived by the greatest number of people, has taken advantage of its 8 years of Carbon expertise to develop its new complementary offering, Global Climate Initiatives, from 2019 to 2020: a 100% Saas platform offering GHG emissions calculators, carbon audits and reduction action plans for all sectors of activity (agriculture, industry, services, events, construction, universities, etc.) for all types of companies, private or public, of all sizes, from VSEs to major corporations, in full compliance with current regulations.
🎯 GCI's Vision and Purpose
Global Climate Initiatives, responds to a growing demand fromcompanies of all sizes, from small craftsmen to large corporations. This demand stems from a growing awareness of climate impact and the need to act responsibly.
These economic players are increasingly concerned about their overall carbon footprint, recognizing the environmental impact of their activities. They want to accurately measure their carbon footprint, understand its sources and implement targeted actions to reduce it. They understand that measurement is the essential first step towards sustainable management of their climate impact.
The platform responds to these aspirations by offering solutions for measuring, reducing emissions and participating in projects to reduce GHG emissions. The company supports these economic players in their commitment to the fight against climate change, helping them to move from awareness to concrete action for a more sustainable future for all.
Its aim is to provide :
✅ A single global operator: For a company, it's important to be able to work on the entire process: calculate + reduce + involve suppliers + contribute with the same contact.
✅ Transparency and rigor: The GCI calculator complies with the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064-1, the French regulatory method and perfectly follows the Bilan Carbone method. It is based on emission factors from numerous reference databases (ADEME's Base Carbone and IMPACTS, BEIS (ex UK DEFRA) and, optionally, EcoInvent, Inies).
✅ A set of optimization tips and online tools: for the dissemination of best practices aimed at reducing GHG emissions.
✅ Differentiated and adapted offers: Differentiated offerings in line with the company's own budgets, consulting requirements, and appropriation and integration objectives.
GCI Milestones
⭐ GCI Customers: Impact on Businesses and Communities
The agency has assisted numerous organizations with environmental studies, carbon audits and the implementation of reduction action plans. Here are just a few examples:
THE INTERNATIONAL AUTOMOBILE FEDERATION (FIA)
GCI has been assisting the FIA for over two years in setting up the platform to produce Carbon Footprints for grand prix events and logistics, involving more than 40 racing teams and service providers.
ASO (Amaury Sport Organisation) FOR THE TOUR DE FRANCE
ASO and several sponsors of the Tour de France (LCL, Leclerc...) have chosen GCI to carry out their Bilan Carbone for the Tour de France 2021 and 2022, as well as other major events (Marathon de Paris, Golf cup de Deauville, Dakar,...).
CARBON AUDITS AND ASSISTANCE IN DEFINING THE BRGM ACTION PLAN.
BRGM is the benchmark public institution in the application of earth sciences to manage the resources and risks of the soil and subsoil with a view to sustainable development.
The objectives of the service won by GCI in 2021 following a national call for tenders were :
- Carrying out and reporting the Bilan Carbone for the entire establishment for all BRGM's regional divisions.
- Drawing up and presenting a shared action plan to reduce emissions
- BRGM's autonomy from 2023 to carry out its Bilans Carbone and drive its low-carbon trajectory via the platform.
CREDIT AGRICOLE DES SAVOIE
Crédit Agricole des Savoie commissioned GCI to carry out Bilans Carbone for two of its service providers:
- ADN Propreté, cleaning the offices of CRCA des Savoie, a company with 500 employees, equivalent to 300 FTEs,
- Trivallées, mail management, recycling and storage company, approx. 200 employees, social integration enterprise
This commitment attests to the progress model proposed by the platform, which enables suppliers to be involved in the carbon trajectory of their principals.
THE PROFESSIONAL SOCCER LEAGUE (LFP)
The LFP has decided to entrust the GCI platform with the production of its own Bilan Carbone and those of the 40 professional soccer clubs in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
These Bilans Carbone will be carried out autonomously by the LFP and the Clubs, after just 4 hours of training, based on a general input model co-constructed by the LFP and GCI, enabling French professional soccer clubs to align themselves with a concrete GHG emissions reduction strategy indexed to the Paris Agreement.
SCHMIDT GROUP
The Schmidt Group, 650 million euros in sales, 800 points of sale, has entrusted GCI with the implementation of its decarbonization strategy.
Via the platform, the Schmidt Group will be able to ask its suppliers in 2023 to calculate their emission factors online in accordance with ISO 14067, check and monitor their commitment, and thus have an accurate measure of the carbon weight of their products and services, and thus improve its carbon competitiveness by gradually discriminating against the carbon performance of its various suppliers.
💪 Strategic Partnerships: Key Collaborations for Climate Change
Strong partnerships have been established, such as with LCL :
LCL has integrated GCIinto its Smartbusiness offering since 2020 and encourages its SME, ETI and Key Account customers to carry out their Carbon Footprint on the platform. In this way, it commits them to action plans to reduce their carbon emissions.
LCL, which has been using the solution since 2019, has fully embraced the tool and has begun to involve its significant suppliers in its low-carbon trajectory.
