Decarbonisation strategy is a team sport
🎬 Interview with Cécile Suquet, CSR Manager at LCL
Can you introduce yourself and your activity?
My name is Cécile Suquet and I am responsible for CSR at LCL. True to its strategy as an urban bank, LCL wishes to support and mobilize customers who want to take action against climate change.
Why and since when is LCL interested in carbon footprinting?
LCL started to look at its carbon footprint for regulatory issues and began to do its carbon footprint in 2014. At the same time, we have committed to carbon neutrality for all our financed and operational emissions. We felt it was essential to start measuring these emissions through an accurate and reliable carbon footprint.
Why did you choose the GCI platform?
With GCI, we can carry out our carbon footprint with complete autonomy, progressing from one year to the next by refining our emission factors by type of activity, which is key to achieving a good measurement and finding the appropriate action plan. It automatically produces a carbon footprint that is enforceable against third parties and complies with regulations, so we have a tool that is both reliable and can be integrated independently into our business.
What do you say to entrepreneurs to convince them to do a carbon footprint of their business?
We really do have a tool that is accessible and that makes the carbon footprint completely accessible to everyone. Then, it is still today a differentiating factor to do one's own carbon footprint and to reduce one's emissions. Tomorrow, if it is not already the case, it will be a discriminating factor. It is a competitive factor to reduce emissions and to be able to display this reduction in emissions in a reliable and auditable way. Carbon neutrality is a team sport and we need your help.
