GCI Certified Experts: On-the-ground expertise to help companies reduce their carbon footprint

Many consultants and experts wish to appropriate the "Carbon Footprint Calculation" skill and to be able to provide the necessary carbon strategy advice to their clients. Indeed, this skill is more and more requested by companies and local authorities who wish to measure and reduce their CO2 emissions, motivated by the new regulatory constraints and the direct and indirect benefits of this commitment.

A carbon footprint reports on an organization's carbon footprint. By quantifying all directly or indirectly generated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, it enables action plans to be put in place to reduce them as much as possible.

Mandatory for companies with more than 50 employees and benefiting from the stimulus plan (Finance Law 2021, art. 244), for those with more than 500 employees, or 250 employees for overseas departments, as well as for local authorities with more than 50,000 inhabitants (Grenelle II Law, July 12, 2010), it is also a decision with economic, commercial and eco-responsible impacts that are widely appreciated by all types of companies.

More and more companies are deciding to carry out their own carbon footprint for a number of reasons, including making it easier to monitor their carbon footprint.

Is a complete check-up complex?

A balance sheet is an exhaustive collection of a company's emissions. It is broken down into three scopes that classify a company's greenhouse gas emissions by item, or by type of activity.

    • Scope 1: so-called direct emissions: emissions from fixed or mobile installations located within the organizational perimeter

    • Scope 2: indirect energy-related emissions: emissions associated with the production of electricity, heat, steam or cooling

    • Scope 3: other indirect emissions

The integration of the three scopes in a GHG balance enables a complete review of an organization's emissions.

Once the assessment has been carried out, it is necessary to reduce the emissions recorded and to define a low-carbon trajectory.

The concept of Bilan Carbone, which is in fact only a registered trademark in France, has always made it difficult to understand. Was this intended to justify the intervention of experts?

The efficiency of the GCI solution makes it easy for any type of company to adopt its calculation, thanks to a simplified, intuitive approach and good online teaching tools.

GCI, a platform for easy access to GHG inventory

Global Climate Initiatives (GCI), a green tech player, has been enabling any organization or community to conduct a comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions assessment since 2012.

This online platform, accessible at any time, offers tools and services to identify, calculate and reduce one's carbon footprint, and to carry out one's Carbon Footprint by sector of activity in compliance with international texts, standards and norms.

The GCI calculator allows you to obtain an exhaustive GHG assessment on the three scopes concerning the following 7 emission items: Travel, Input materials and services, Energy, Refrigerants, Water consumption and Waste.

It also estimates the impact of your activity on the climate at any given moment in the form of targeted reporting on the main emission items of your sector's activities.

This 100% guided and 100% customizable approach can however impress some.

To overcome this fear, the GCI platform offers all users the opportunity to be assisted and accompanied by a GCI expert. A 4-hour mini-training session is more than enough, given the support and information tools available online.

What is a GCI expert?

The main mission of the GCI Authorized Expert (E.A) is to present GCI services, to convince his interlocutors of their autonomy to use them, and to spread this good practice to all their subsidiaries, subcontractors and suppliers.

In addition, he can offer, or subcontract to the network of GCI Approved Experts, support and consultancy services for reducing GHG emissions, and for defining and managing a CSR commitment. They may also receive this type of assignment from another Expert or from a GCI client interested in their particular skills.

Each user can contact an Authorized Expert through an instant messaging system available on the platform. The experts come from different fields of activity. Thus, each user will be able to find a competent expert in his field of activity to help him implement his reduction action plan.

A network for sharing and adding skills

The creation of a network of GCI Chartered Experts The creation of a network of GCI experts allows professionals to aggregate and share best practices in order to assist companies and local authorities in their strategic decision to participate in the fight against global warming.

We thus provide the best possible support to the users of the GCI platform by making the most of the expertise of each individual, who in turn benefits from the technical or geographical complementarity of the other experts.

Thanks to this network of carbon assessment experts in the field, making a complete and compliant carbon assessmentand initiating a reduction action plan is accessible to any organization.
